Imbuer

In this section you can purchase both raw materials and pre-applied enchantments.

If your character is capable of performing enchantments themselves, it is usually sufficient to buy the raw material and apply the spell later. Basic enchantments can be performed at Student level, while more complex workings, such as glamour spells, require an Arcanist title or higher.

Keep in mind that each material has limits to how much magic it can sustain. Some fabrics can only hold simple spells, while others may support several enchantments at once. Attempting to push a material beyond its capacity may cause the magic to become unstable, potentially weakening the effect or causing the enchantment to fail entirely. The spell capacity listed below applies separately to each spell category and represents the maximum number of simple or complex spells the material can sustain.

Discounts

If your character is in a high social position or has individually amassed a certain amount of money in-game (will be individually determined), they will receive a 50% discount on all items listed here to reflect their bigger purchase power.

Enchantments

Objects can be enchanted with spells. While gemstones and precious metals are the best spell conduits, technically any solid material can be enchanted. The most common enchantment objects besides jewellery and clothes are weapons, bags, baskets, tools and household items. You are more than welcome to bring an item you own here to have it imbued, or to buy raw material from this shop for imbuement.

Keep in mind that enchantments don't last forever! Once the mana put into the enchantment spell runs out, the enchantment unravels.

Note: For self-enchanters, your raw magical power and magic skill must align with the level requirement for the enchantment. Exceptions are specialised skills. Also dark magic spells related to telepathy won't be available at a legal imbuer in a city since they're illegal.

They are used often in Derenta, however, so if you have a Scout character whose affinity is darkness, then they most likely know the telepathy link spell.

Simple | everyday magic

Cost per spell: 5 Coins

Enchantments even students can easily manage. These spells are straightforward to perform, low-risk, and produce minor but useful effects. They are ideal for beginners learning to enchant materials, and are commonly used for everyday items.

Spell examples:

  • Durability | material lasts longer

  • Freshness | food doesn't spoil as fast
  • Shimmer | stone or object shines like freshly polished

  • Cleanliness | repels dust, dirt, or stains

  • Warmth | keeps garments or objects slightly warm

  • Coolness | keeps items pleasantly cool in heat

  • Weight Reduction | object feels lighter to carry

  • Minor Waterproofing | resists small amounts of water

  • Tactility | fabrics feel slightly smoother and more comfortable

  • Aroma | emits a faint, pleasant scent

Advanced | Arcanist-level magic

Cost per spell: 20 Coins

Advanced spells are more complex and powerful than simple enchantments and require a trained imbuer to perform. This category of spells is a mixture of multi-layered simple spells and singular complex spells. While they can produce impressive results, materials must be chosen carefully to avoid instability or failure when pushed beyond their magical capacity.

Spell examples:

  • Glamour | changes the appearance of an object or its wearer

  • Elemental Charge | imbues objects with a chosen element for utility or flair (limited uses)
  • Sound Modification | makes objects emit or silence sounds

  • Enhanced Tactility | garments feel smooth, soft, or textured

  • Layered Enchantments | combining multiple simple enchantmehts into one object

  • Elemental Resistance | protects the object from a specific element (fire resistance is most popular)

  • Simple Artificial Pocket Dimension | artificial pocket dimension of 50% increased capacity in a bag (must be renewed every 3 months)

  • Linking | links two objects so that having one makes finding the other easy

Complex | Luminary-level magic

Cost per spell: 50 Coins

Complex spells represent the pinnacle of magical craftsmanship. They require highly trained enchanters and carefully chosen materials, as even small mistakes can cause instability or partial failure. These spells can dramatically alter an object’s properties, imbue it with long-lasting magical effects, or combine multiple advanced enchantments into a single, sophisticated item. Complex spells are typically used for specialized tools, powerful magical items, or garments and stones intended for high-level magical practice.

Spell examples:

  • Summoning | a summoning circle is imbued on an object, able to summon another object connected to that circle

  • Pre-Written spell | a complex multi-layered spell that would take a lot of time to cast individually
  • Enhanced Glamour | very convincing full-body glamour

  • Enhanced Elemental Charge | imbues objects with a chosen element for utility or flair (charge lasts longer)

  • Telepathic link | telepathic connection over longer distances than aura-based telepathy allows (WARNING! Dark magic!)

  • Enhanced Artificial Pocket Dimension | artificial pocket dimension of 200% increased capacity in a bag (must be renewed once a year)

  • Self-Repair | slowly restores damaged objects over time

  • Healing | increases the body's healing capabilities

Fabrics

Cotton | simple but unstable enchantments

Material Cost: 5 Coins

Imbuement Properties:

  • minor enchantments

  • basic durability charms

Spell capacity:

  • simple spells: 3

  • complex spells: 0

A soft natural fibre harvested from the cotton plant. Light, breathable, and easy to weave, cotton is one of the most common fabrics used for everyday garments. Its loose structure makes it easy for enchantment spells to take hold quickly, though the fabric is not suited for particularly intricate magical work.

Linen | stable practical enchantments

Material Cost: 10 Coins

Imbuement Properties:

  • durability enchantments

  • moisture and weather resistance

  • localised simple glamour spells

Spell capacity:

  • simple spells: 5

  • complex spells: 1

A strong fabric woven from flax fibres. Linen is valued for its durability, breathability, and resistance to wear, making it common in travel clothing and work garments. Its firm, tightly spun fibres allow practical enchantments to anchor well within the cloth.

Chenille | insulation-focused enchantments

Material Cost: 20 Coins

Imbuement Properties:

  • durability enchantments

  • simple full-body glamour spells

  • heat/cold resistance

Spell capacity:

  • simple spells: 7

  • complex spells: 2

A fuzzy yarn with a soft pile that resembles a caterpillar. Fabrics woven from chenille yarn are thick, warm, and richly textured. The dense fibres trap air easily, making the material particularly suited for temperature-related enchantments and simple glamours.

Velvet | illusion-friendly fabric

Material Cost: 30 Coins

Imbuement Properties:

  • durability enchantments

  • advanced glamour spells

Spell capacity:

  • simple spells: 10

  • complex spells: 3

A luxurious pile fabric known for its deep, soft surface and rich appearance. Velvet reflects light differently depending on the direction of its fibres, giving it a distinctive shifting sheen. Because of this layered surface, the fabric is especially responsive to enchantments that manipulate light and appearance.

Silk | precise mana conductor

Material Cost: 40 Coins

Imbuement Properties:

  • durability enchantments

  • complex or precise enchantments

Spell capacity:

  • simple spells: 12

  • complex spells: 4

A rare natural fibre prized for its smooth texture, strength, and natural sheen. Silk garments are light yet insulating, remaining comfortable in both warm and cool climates. Brocade | multi-anchor enchantment base

Material Cost: 50 Coins

Imbuement Properties:

  • durability enchantments

  • multi-component enchantments

  • gemstone- or metal-anchored enchantments

more spell slots possible when additional enchantment-holding materials are incorperated*

An ornate silk fabric woven with raised patterns, often incorporating gold or silver thread and sometimes set with gemstones or other precious materials. Produced in Eriwon, brocade is commonly used for ceremonial garments and high-status attire. The inclusion of non-fabric elements provides natural anchors for more elaborate enchantments.

Gemstones

Each stone's spell capacity is dependent on the integral structure rather than the stone's size since spells are not physically dependent on availabe space.

If you're unsure which stones count as magical stones, you can feel free to make a petition for one since there is no official list (yet). The other stone types are the same as they are in real life.

Glass Stone | mostly decorative

Material Cost: 1 Coin per stone

Imbuement Properties:

  • weak light spell to make them shimmer more

  • weak repellment spell to keep them clean

Spell capacity per stone:

  • simple spells: 1

  • complex spells: 0

Glass stones are artificially-created rather than naturally acquired. They are made of glass and are mostly used for decoration and looks, rather than spells. While they can hold very simple spells, they are not recommended as an enchantment base.

Fake Stone | mostly decorative

Material Cost: 1 Coin per stone

Imbuement Properties:

  • weak light spell to make them shimmer more

  • weak repellment spell to keep them clean

Spell capacity per stone:

  • simple spells: 1

  • complex spells: 0

These stones are gemstones and crystals grown through magic rather than natural geological processes, causing them to lack the mana structure required for effective enchantment. They are primarily produced for decorative purposes, such as inexpensive jewellery, ornaments, and pigments, as their imbuement quality is comparable to that of glass stones. Any variety of gemstone or crystal can be grown artificially.

A gemstone's imbuement quality is considered just as important an indicator of its value as its carat weight. Because magic-grown stones are visually indistinguishable from naturally formed ones, dishonest merchants sometimes mix them into shipments of genuine gemstones to inflate their profits.

Semi-precious Stone | basic enchantments

Material Cost: 5 Coins per stone

Imbuement Properties:

  • durability

  • protection

  • localised glamour

Spell capacity per stone:

  • simple spells: 10

  • complex spells: 1

Semi-precious stones are naturally occurring and relatively common. They are more durable than glass stones and can hold simple enchantments, making them suitable for low-tier magical projects. However, they are not ideal for complex or layered spells.

precious Stone | ideal enchantment base

Material Cost: 20 Coins per stone

Imbuement Properties:

  • summoning enchantments

  • secure glamour

Spell capacity per stone:

  • simple spells: 25

  • complex spells: 5

Precious stones are highly valued for both their beauty and magical potential. They can sustain multiple simple spells or several complex ones, making them suitable for advanced magical work and more powerful enchanted items.

Magical Stone | high mana-storing capacity

Material Cost: 50 Coins per stone

Imbuement Properties:

  • multiple complex enchantments

  • numerous minor utility spells

Spell capacity per stone:

  • simple spells: 100

  • complex spells: 20

Magical stones are rare and prized in academies and workshops for their exceptional ability to hold spells. They can sustain many complex enchantments or a large number of simple ones, making them the preferred choice for high-level magical experiments and major enchanted creations.
