How To Join

Greetings, dear wayfarer. We see that you seem to have stumbled over the world of Mereldia here. Now you are probably asking what this world is, so let me tell you.
Mereldia is a fantasy world that is a parallel universe to our world, set in the medieval age. Once there were many realms, all of them connected through Tír na nÓg, the land of eternal youth. People could get to the lands of fae through the world gates and therefore discover all the realms connected to it. Once a realm was so corrupted that the fairies could not live there anymore, it was cut off from Tír na nÓg through the closing of the gate to it. Many realms have been disconnected from it, including earth, in the year 1066. Mereldia was the last realm to be disconnected from Tír na nÓg chronologically after the humans in this realm have destroyed their own race. Then the gods, who were actually Aos Sí, started to rise. The time in Mereldia passed differently than in the realm of Tír na nÓg so that almost four millennia have passed since the gate has been closed, while in Tír na nÓg it has been about 400 years only. Geographically, Mereldia is different from our world and there is yet another thing that changes it: magic. To find more about it visit the Lore section of the website.

First off the most important thing: this group follows a story that plays in the same world as Lilafly's comic Caspanas. Since a comic needs to be morphed around very often spontaneously, it can happen that also this group will be morphed. This is a group about the comic after all, not a comic about the group! But do not worry, the author always tries her best to morph things in your favour and the comic's favour, so nothing can become worse, just a little more detailed.

Even though the group follows a story and a world setting, it is and stays, a game. There will be Objectives that you can participate in that will also help the story's plot. There as well is a shop where you can - with your group currency, not real money - buy items to evolve your character's abilities, looks and story further. This group is an RPG. RPG stands for "roleplay game" or "roleplay group". You can also evolve your character further by roleplaying with other characters. You can also write stories about your character and what they do, without roleplaying with anyone. Keep in mind though that roleplaying is an important part of the group and that you could miss out on a lot if you don't do so.

We know that this group might not be everyone's cup of tea. We support a very liberal, while at the same time democratic, system here. New ideas are always welcome, but some ideas might not work with the group. This world has borders, but fair treatment stands before anything else! We roleplay fantasy beings in a fantasy world where Celtic mythology is embedded in a large scale. If you do not like Celtic mythology and the medieval age (ca. 12th century) then it might not be the best choice to join this group. If you are okay with all of that, then go ahead, we welcome absolutely everyone!

If you want to join this group you will need to create a character for it. This character will be part of the world of Mereldia, which means that they will be born there and lived there their whole life. Already existing characters with an own backstory from another world will not be accepted. Of course, characters can be transferred from other worlds if you wish. Their whole backstory will just have to be rewritten to fit the world of Mereldia.

Your first character
for the main group has to be a normal mortal without magic. Later you can upgrade them to be able to use magic, or you can buy yourself a second character that already has magic. One exception to that rule is the soldier rank. (because Lilafly needs many as background characters later).

If you want your first character to be able to use magic or want them to be a fae, then we suggest checking out "Fairy-Lands", which is a subgroup of the Caspanas-RPG and holds three faerie-related factions which you can join. Joining Fairy-Lands also means joining the Caspanas-RPG at the same time, but you cannot be part of Fairy-Lands if you do not have a character of the three factions there! Since Fairy-Lands is a subgroup, it cannot function without the main group. This is why you automatically are also part of the main group when you join Fairy-Lands. If you only have a character enrolled in the main group, you cannot be part of Fairy-Lands, because you lack the Fairy-Lands-character.

For your character, you can choose between several different factions, find a short summary on each of them below.

We recommend you to read the different parts of the website in this order:

And with that, we, of course, mean that you do not only read the general main pages of those sections, but also the subpages of them. This can take some time, so be sure to not rush yourself and read it at your own pace. If you afterwards still have questions you can ask them on the FAQ page of the group.

Once you are finished with all that you will have to apply with your character in the group. The character must be FINISHED, please do not send us an uncompleted application sheet.

Then apply in a join request with the following form:

Name: character's name here
Faction: faction name here
Rank: character's rank here
[link to the Application Sheet]  (must be complete, and a submitted deviation! no sta.sh uploads accepted)

If you are unsure if your character's information is correct and want someone to check it over, simply note the group and with a link to your character's reference. One of the admins will help you out. We gladly check over Applications beforehand so that some confusions might be able to be explained in advance, so don't be shy to send your application in for a check, we don't bite!

These are the factions of the Caspanas-RPG, the main group. They revolve around the countries with civilisation (Monabur, Santugan and Nordberg being cities respectively) as well as holding the faction of independents, who basically can roam everywhere. The reason for the separation was to divide the group into the fairie-based side and the non-fairie-based side, so that things don't get so confusing, etc. This does NOT mean that roleplays or anything of the sort is impossible with a character from a CRPG faction and a Fairy-Lands faction! We just sorted them into different groups to make the organisation easier. They are still the same world with the same rules!

May the stars lead us the way into paradise
Monabur is the capital of the desert country, Koruna, and also its biggest city. The people who live there are all highly religious and superstitious. Their prayers go to the stars, which serve them as the most important connection to the gods, right after the king himself. A life outside of civilization is unimaginable for them and they look down on those who live in the wild lands. For many, social status is most important!

Either you survive, you live, or you die
Santugan is the second biggest city of Koruna. It is known for its high crime rate and its brutal traditions. It is also commonly described as the shadow side of Koruna. To live there without getting into trouble is almost impossible, but to leave the city is expensive. Without a caravan, the journey through the desert can be as deadly as the city itself. Something bigger is going on there than what meets the eye. Something strange...

Six guardians, six castles, six races, one city.
The city of Nordberg lies in the far north of Mereldia at the foot of Cailleach, the impassable mountain border. It is by far the biggest city in the North and is known for its cold weather and the deep green forests that surround it. Many mysterious beings roam there or in the surrounding area, as well as many vendors and artists. It is most known for its explicit magic academies and for having the biggest library in Mereldia.

Listen to your heart...
Eriwon is a country eastwards of Koruna. It lies enclosed in mountains and is known for its scenic beauty. The people who live there speak in an easily recognisable accent and love silence. Most of them are practised in some kind of art form while fighting forms are also regarded in an artistic way. They usually have a lot of patience and are at peace with the world. The country is reigned by a monarchy which stands in an alliance with the land of Koruna.

Let no one but freedom lead you the way!
The Independents are those who roam Mereldia freely. They do not follow anyone‘s lead but are their own ruler. They do as they please and are each very different. Some are discards, others are criminals or vendors and even others are just independent because they want to wander around and see the world. Nothing general can be said about people of this faction, for all of them are very individual and mysterious in their own way.

These factions are the fairie based factions. They can be involved in city life, but more often roam in the wild. Since faeries are different from mortals and feared by mortals, they often seclude themselves from them. This was also a reason for the separation: They usually stay to themselves anyway. This is not a rule, don't worry. Roleplay with the CRPG factions all you want! But be warned that most mortals might not react kindly to your fae character.

Follow our call...
The forest of Jengu is the deepest and biggest forest of Mereldia. It lies eastward to the North Lands and is best known for its supernatural phenomena. Many creatures of fae heritage or even Aos Sí themselves roam here. Beware, though, because the will-o-wisps might not always lead you to a pleasant fate. Do not enter this forest without a good knowledge about fae creatures, or this might end up to be your last day in Mereldia...

Bring us back to Tír na nÓg
The Heranors are a cult of fae who want to have every mortal erased from Mereldia. Most of them are connected by the same parents, the Unseelie stallion Adrik and the Seelie mare Merianna. While connected by family relations and growing up with the same ideology, all of them shine as being individuals. They follow the road of darkness and see Caspanas as their only real enemies. Do never befriend or trust a Heranor. Ever!

Be nothing but the best you can be!
In the Middle Lands, the wild lands exists a land unknown to anyone, called Derenta. Here resides the Verensa Herd. A herd full of Caspanas who have only one goal: to rid the world of the tyranny of the fae. Their main enemy is the Heranor Family and they do everything in their might to gain the strength they need to defeat them. But the curse is not called a curse for nothing. Other people fear them, so they only have each other against the whole world.

Koruna, one of the first countries to form after the war with Monabur being its first city and eventually also its capital. Nothing is more holy than the gods that lead the first travellers there at the beginning of the new age. The one that lead them, Cynfor, was crowned king as his descendants were also after him. The king of Koruna, who resides in Monabur, the holy city, is said to be closest to the gods. Betraying him would not just be a crime, but outright blasphemy.
The people of Monabur pray to the stars and the elements, which they personify as gods. But not only that. Many riches can be found in this golden city within the Korunian desert. It is the richest city in the richest country in all of Mereldia.
The people there do only know the civilization of a city. Those that live in the wild lands are looked down upon and often even regarded as witless.
Ever since the fateful Summer Solstice in 802 a.w., when the beloved crown prince died, Caspanas have been widely feared and hated.

As there is light, there also is darkness. So they say. Santugan is the perfect example of being the dark side of Koruna. The crime rate here is higher than anywhere else in Mereldia and the people are bitter liars. It takes wit and strength to survive here or a very fortunate family line to be lifted out of the misery that is the low society.
King Madjel rules the city with an ignorance only a spoiled brat can show. The days of blood, a regular execution of criminals is held under his non-caring supervision. It is not like he does ignore the death all around him, he simply does not care.
And really, it is not particularly hard to stumble upon a dead body in the streets of Santugan. But leaving the city is an expensive option since the desert can be as deadly as Santugan itself. Without a caravan, one does not get far.
