The Velociraptor
One of the most known and most prominent creatures that count under being artificial is the velociraptor, “raptor” for short. What is interesting about this one is that, in contrary to other artificial species, that are just plain chimeras. The velociraptor is a creature that has, at the time it was created, actually been extinct for millions of years. Archeologist found bones of these creatures that date back to the age way before any divinity roamed Mereldia. Like all creatures of that time, it was extinct long before any society formed. Interesting enough, findings of bones from velociraptors less than 5000 years ago, have been made just recently. Not just plain normal bones. No, these bones have been exposed to magic so strong, that they are still verifiable thousands of years after their original use. Furthermore, parts of millions of year old bones have been found within the bone structure of the newer ones. A feat that is actually impossible for a naturally born creature. We can safely assume that a human witch found the bones of a velociraptor and used spells unknown to us to bring flesh and life back to the bones. While also making it bigger and stronger than its original shape.
Today we know that these artificially-created velociraptors have survived the war and have ever since then evolved into five different breeds. While luckily only a few people actually encounter these pack-hunting predators, they are still fairly well known and feared. One would think that their lack of sentience would be a disadvantage, but this assumption is a crucial mistake. Their intelligence, for a mere animal, is significantly high. So high in fact, that velociraptors might even be the closest animal to being sentient in Mereldia. Their lack of complete sentience makes them ever so dangerous since they rely completely on instinct, having no morals or remorse for those they kill and eat. Do not expect these creatures to show mercy or even befriend you. If you ever happen to encounter a raptor, gods forbid, running might not even be an option, since they can run up to 50km/h. So if you should...well good luck.
The Snow Raptor
It is the biggest of the five known raptor types. With up to 165cm of height, it is even bigger than the average horse.
These raptors live in areas with harsh cold climates in very small groups scattered about. Preferably they prey on large mammals of their size, like reindeer or even polar bears. Due to their size, there is just one or two raptors for each hunting group.
Two eggs are always hatched to minimize the risks of the younglings dying from the harsh cold.
Their colouring always comes in white or white/black feathers for camouflage. Males usually have more black feathers than females, which are often completely white.
The Mountain Raptor
