A kirin, or quirlin, is an immortal creature similar to the unicorn. It derives from the eastern myths and has at some point even been called the "eastern unicorn". They are horse-like, in old drawings sometimes depicted with the head of a dragon, the tail of a lion, as well as fish or dragon scales. On their head they wear antlers, also the females and are sometimes depicted with the beard of a koi too. It also is often described as also being more deer-like in some myths than equine-like.

They are gentle creatures that wouldn't harm a soul and travel alone. Sometimes an elder would take on a youngling and teach them everythign they know, which is the only instance in which they do not practice the life of a loner. They usually just meet to breed and when their fawn/foal is born.
