One of the most horrible and probably even most torturous forms of magic in existence are curses. There are many forms of them which can effect the one, they are used upon, in various ways. Despite the sheer variety, there are certain characteristics and rules that apply to all curses.

1. They are eternal until lifted.

2. Only the one that spoke a curse can also lift that same curse. If the caster included conditions for the curse to be lifted, then it will be lifted once those conditions are met.

3. The caster of the curse cannot harm the one they cursed in any physical way. If they do, the curse will be lifted from their victim and fall back on the caster.

4. They consist of pure dark magic and therefore are the counterpart to blessings. Their nature is always wicked and twisted. No good can come with a curse.

Curses, as tempting as they might seem to be, are an extremely complicated feat. If not done correctly, they can easily fall back on the caster. Whatever one can be cursed with, highly depends on the caster's skill. The more skilled the caster, the more options for the curse. Curses that are based on transformation or aging, which you might hear of from fairy tales, are some of the most complicated curses, only able to be cast by skilled fae. More common curses from lesser fae or even some criminal mages would be clumsiness, constant sneezing or even a sudden illness for example.

Remember it being dark magic. Remember it being forbidden. Remember that the kings will have your head if you utter even just one curse, no matter how harmless it may be!
