It is without question that we do not know a lot about happened during the time of the destructive end to the war of black magic. The creatures who fought in it obliterated their entire species from Mereldia, causing most of the information to be lost. Through oral tradition, we can conclude that these creatures were called “humans." Many things we know today go back to their time and some are even from their creation, not ours. With this also comes many species that, contrary to popular belief, have not always existed in Mereldia since the day of creation but are the result of witchery work. The creatures we go over in this chapter are all such creations. While we do not know exactly how they were created, or why, we can make educated guesses with the knowledge we have today about magic and Chimeras. Which is the combination of traits from different animal kinds in one single creature. While not all artificially-created creatures are Chimeras, we can assume that the way they have been created is similar, if not identical, to the way a Chimera is constructed.
